Karin Ann Smith's Obituary
Karin A. Smith, 63, of Ft. Myers passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, June 9, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born November 16, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky and moved to Fort Myers in 1981. She was a former member of the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord and a longtime member of Fiddlesticks Country Club. She was a fiercely competitive tennis player in leagues in both Fiddlesticks and throughout Lee County. She was also active in the Bobby Nichols Fiddlesticks Foundation Walk-a-thon and Tennis Tournament. She was a talented pianist and singer, who in her early years won a state-wide competition for original music. She graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and remained a loyal fan her entire life. She worked for the City of Louisville and then for Jefferson County Government where she rose to Interim Director of the Consumer Protection Agency. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband for 36 years, Robb L. Smith; her son David L. Smith; her granddaughter Grace Ann Smith; her “brothas” Gregory Boeck (Lindy), Peter Boeck; her “sistahs” Margaret ‘Peggy” Boeck Garrison (Juney) and Laura Boeck Hedberg (John) and six nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, June 13, 2014 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of Lee County, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908 or to the Bobbby Nichols Fiddlesticks Charity Foundation, c/o Fiddlesticks Country Club.
