Katherine Cordes Mitchell's Obituary
Katherine Cordes Mitchell, 92, of Fort Myers, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2018. She was born September 29, 1925 in Leland, MI, the daughter of Oswald Julius and Katherine (Schwarz) Cordes. She trained at Detroit Mercey Hospital and began her RN nursing career. She Married Paul Mitchell and they started their family. In 1957 they moved from Ann Arbor, MI to Fort Myers. She resumed her nursing career at Lee Memorial Hospital, later becoming president of the District 7 Florida Nurse’s Association. She made a career change into business, becoming an officer in the family’s business with husband Paul and sons John and Craig, where she was involved in many successful business ventures.She was a charter member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church where she served as Eucharistic Minister. She dearly loved her family and had many interests. She was a member of the Garden Club, enjoyed photography, knitting and she and her husband, Paul were accomplished Ballroom dancers.Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her children: Craig Mitchell (Anne) of Lakeland, James Mitchell (Yolanda) of Fort Myers, John Mitchell (Carey) of Fort Myers and Katherine Angelillis (Richard) of Palm Harbor. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Mitchell and her daughter, Marylee Mitchell Revels of Sacramento, CA.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday, March 8, 2018 at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, 5632 Sunrise Drive, Fort Myers.
