Kathryn (Kay) Frances Sprague Smith, 98 of Ft. Myers, FL., went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2021. She was a member of Truth Baptist Church, Lehigh Acres, and a life member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Fort Myers. She lived with her daughter in Lehigh Acres since 2018. Kathryn was a realtor in Fort Myers for many years and owned Kay Smith Realty.
She was predeceased by her Father, Francis H Sprague, Sr in 1990, her Mother, Kathryn Brower Sprague in 2000, her brother Francis H Sprague Jr., and her sister Doris Virgilio. Surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law and one sister, James L and Beverly Sprague of Seaside Park, NJ., John R and Judy Sprague of Stuart FL., and Agnes Polhemus of Seaside Heights NJ.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Bonnie Hill of Fort Myers FL., Jana Smith of Lehigh Acres, FL., and Kathryn and Michael O’Brien of Lehigh Acres, FL: as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Although blind for many years, she was sharp and witty and could often be heard laughing. She had a strong belief in Jesus Christ and was instrumental in bringing many to know Jesus as their personal Savior. Anyone that attended Emmanuel Baptist Church or Truth Baptist Church will remember the “Lady that played the bass”. Serving the Lord through music was her joy and she will be remembered by many for her thoughtfulness and her deep devotion to her faith, her family, and her friends.
