Ken Stoner's Obituary
Ken Stoner, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 26th, 2024 of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Ken is survived by his wife and soul mate, Marlene (Mitzi); she was his loving and devoted partner of 40 years. Preceded by their son, John Borgrud, he leaves three beautiful daughters; Sherry McDonald (John), Lori Stoner, and Cindy Stone, all of whom he loved dearly.
Ken had six grandchildren: Travis, Tyler, Austin, Morgan, Colleen and Johnathan and four great-grandchildren; Damean, Nolan Grant, Ethan James and Aidan Kenneth.
He was born on August 20, 1939 in Baltimore, MD to Edna M. and Walter C. Stoner and was raised in Youngstown, OH. His parents moved to North Olmsted, OH in 1956 where he was graduated from North Olmsted High School in 1957. He then served in the US Navy for six years 1958 – 1963. In June 1969, Ken was graduated “Cum Laude” with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH. He attended evenings, weekends, and summers for six years while working full time. Ken recognized the value of education.
In 1967, Ken became a salesman and that set the course for his remaining working years as a sales manager and VP of Sales. In 1980, he started his own Manufacturers Representative firm in the steel industry until he retired in 2007.
He loved meeting people and especially valued his relationships with family and friends. Ken was a Mason and a Shriner for 32 years. He was a proud member of Ft. Myers Lodge #362 and Araba Shrine. Ken loved golf. He was a volunteer rules official with the Florida State Golf Association for fourteen years. In addition to his time spent at the Masonic lodge and time with golfers at FSGA, he enjoyed his time at The Forest Country Club where he was a member for 20 years.
Music was Ken’s way to relax and enjoyed all genres ranging from the oldies to classic rock. Sometimes the tune was appealing but, in most cases, it was the lyrics.
A Masonic Service will be held at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens on June 22nd at 12:00 PM. For those who are unable to attend, we are providing this virtual link to live stream the service. https://www.econdolence.com/46pjv2em It will be available 10 minutes before the service starts.
