“I Love You”“Always and Forever”Kermit Woodward “Woody” Deal, 70, with his family by his side, “slipped the bonds of earth to touch the face of God,” on March 10, 2009 at 6:40 pm. He was born October 1, 1938, in Ashland, KY and has lived in Cape Coral since 2002. Woody graduated from Ashland High School in 1956. He then graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1960, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He played Trumpet in the UK “Marching 100 Band,” and was a member of the Triangle Fraternity.After graduation, Woody began his career as an Electrical Engineer with ARMCO Steel Corporation. He was President of Black River Mining Company and Director at Jacobs Engineering Company.Woody served in the Kentucky National Guard where he was the youngest recipient of the “Kentucky Congressional Medal of Valor.” He served as President of the Franklin, Ohio Jaycees; Deacon of the first Baptist Church of Franklin, Ohio; Secretary/Treasurer of the Dockside Condominium Association; and Administrator of the “Go-Getters” Sunday School Class at McGregor Baptist Church of Fort Myers.Woody served on the City Counsel for both the City of Franklin, Ohio and the City of Monroe, Ohio. He worked on the political Campaigns for Congressman John Boehner of Ohio, Congressman Donald E. “Buzz” Lukens, and representative Tom Kindness, of Ohio.Woody is preceded in death by his parents, Kermit Lee and Mary Elizabeth Deal.Woody is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sharon E. Pruitt Deal, two children, Carl Lee (Janet) Deal, Ginger Lynne (Greg) Arnold, six grandchildren, Brandy Walker, Jason (Heather) Walker, Chad Deal, Sarah Deal, Katlyn Deal, Grant Deal, one great grandchild, Aidyn Walker. Also survived by one brother, David (Judy) Deal.
