My heartfelt condolences for your loss.
I have fond memories of growing up with Larry in Boone. Before I moved away when I was 9, Larry and his dog, Fritz, were my best friends. We lived across the alley from each other.
The very first time I ever stayed away from home on my own was with Larry and his parents, Ginny and Bud. Mrs Bell invited me over for dinner and a sleepover in the backyard.
I will always remember as a kid those wonderful summer evenings in Boone with Larry, our friends, and our bikes.
Larry's Dad had a whistle. As I remember, it was one whistle for Fritz and two whistles for Larry. Larry and I would always hold our breathe for that second whistle. We never seemed to want our summer days to end.
Stephen King in one of his novels once said, "You never make the friends like the friends you make when you're 11 years old." I think Larry would agree.
