Larry Lynn Skipper's Obituary
Larry Lynn Skipper of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully at his residence with his loving family by his side on Sunday, September 5, 2021 following some recent health challenges. He was 93 years old.
Larry was born in Avon Park, Florida on August 16, 1928, the proud son to Bertha (Saunders) and William O. Skipper. He was a veteran of the United States Army and, following his military service, Larry became a certified teacher who spent the majority of his working years as an educator, teaching Science at the High School level.
His is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Virginia J Skipper. Larry enjoyed and loved his many nieces and nephews very much. Just to mention a few of his surviving nieces and nephews are: Dean Harris Sr and Betty (Owens) Harris of Whigham, Georgia; Pat (Harrison) Byrd and Walt Byrd of Whigham, Georgia; Lisa (Harris) Sharp and Mark Sharp of Whigham, Georgia; Dean Harris Jr. and Sandra (Davenport) Harris of Fort Myers, Florida, and John R Johnson of Fort Myers, FL. Larry is survived by many more beloved nieces and nephews that are too numerous to list. Larry is predeceased by his parents: William Oscar Skipper and Bertha (Saunders) Skipper, of Avon Park, FL, His brothers, Joseph K Skipper and Odel Skipper, both of Avon Park, FL as well.
A Visitation for Larry will be conducted from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 16, 2021 inside the Sanctuary at McGregor Baptist Church, 3750 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33966, (239) 963-1754. A Funeral Service will thereafter be celebrated by Pastor Cary Robinson at 11:00 AM also inside the Church Sanctuary. A time of fellowship will follow at the church campus. Friends and family will leave the church and travel to Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555 where Larry will receive Military Honors from the United States Army at 1:30 PM prior to being laid to rest inside the Fountain Garden Section.
