LaVern "Vern" August Dettman's Obituary
LaVern August Dettman of Estero, Florida passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Sunday, June 25, 2017 following some recent health challenges. He was 83 years old.Vern was born on December 7, 1933 in East Hamburg, New York, the proud son of Martha (Blum) and Herbert Dettman. He was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Korean War. He spent his working life in construction as a Steamfitter until his retirement and thereafter relocated to Southwest Florida in 2014. He was married to and is survived by his loving wife, Ann (Lawson) Dettman and also leaves behind his daughters Debra (Dennis) Windnagle, Terry (Robert) Liebel, Shari (Henry Bays) Perkins and his son LaVern (Lisa) Dettman, Jr. He was also the proud grandfather to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Immediate funeral ceremonies are private. Arrangements for Vern’s final care have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Vern’s memory instead be directed to either St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O.
