Lawrence M. Webb's Obituary
Lawrence “Larry” Moody Webb, a resident of Ft. Myers since 1962, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Thursday, October 31, 2019. He was born on October 21, 1926 in Clarksdale, Mississippi.Larry was a veteran of two wars, serving in the United States Navy during WWII and as a Master Sergeant in the US Army in Korea. Over the course of his life he was a successful businessman (co-founder of the Mann Webb Insurance Agency), an avid hunter, fisherman and talented athlete. To his family he was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a humble and generous man of character and integrity with sincere Christian faith. His wise counsel and sense of humor that grew out of his life experiences made him a man of meaningful influence to many people. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Ann Webb of Fort Myers; two children, R. Mark Webb (Wendy) of Ft. Myers and Sarah B. Friday (Junie) of Ft. Myers; four grandchildren, Rachel Speas (Todd), Lara Bozzo (Joe), Matthew Maitland and Timothy Maitland; and five great grandchildren, Lillia, Sadler and Shepard Speas and Carston and Saylor Bozzo.The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Saturday, November 16, 2019 beginning at 9:00 am at the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Ft. Myers. The United States Navy will present Military Honors at 11:00 AM. Following that ceremony, burial will be held privately for family only in honor of Larry’s wishes.Larry was recently honored for his military service by participation in the Lee Collier Honor Flight Mission 20. The expressions of love, appreciation and respect shown to the veterans was an experience that he said would be with him forever.
