Leonard R. "Bob" Freed's Obituary
Leonard R. “Bob” Freed, 70, of North Fort Myers, passed away Monday, September 16, 2013. He was born April 21, 1943 in Harrisburg, PA to Leonard J. and Dorothy Cook Freed. Mr. Freed leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 49 years, Monica Gnau Freed; three children: Becky Gold (Ed), Laura Krawczyk (Mike) and Dan Freed (Lori); his father, Leonard J. Freed; his sister, Cindy Decker (Ray) and his grandchildren: Victoria Gold, Cecilia Gold, Jacob Krawczyk, Luke Krawczyk, Trevor Freed and Tyler Freed and his brother, Ron Freed (Cheryl). He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Cook Freed. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Stationed in Wichita, KS, he worked on the Titan II Missile Silo. He was employed by Florida Power and Light for 29 years in various capacities including mechanic, electrician and I.C.S., working at the Fort Myers, Cutler Ridge and Turkey Point Power Plants. In 1995, he established Freed Electrical Services, Inc., and worked as an electrical contractor. Bob was an elder at Buckingham Presbyterian Church and past chairman of the finance committee. He was a brother in the Scottish Rite of the Free and Accepted Masons, S.J., USA. The celebration of his life through the witness of the Resurrection Service will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 20, 2013 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Friends will be received for a memorial visitation from 6 – 8 PM Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Buckingham Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of Lee County, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908 or to Buckingham Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 4241 Buckingham Rd, Fort Myers, FL 33905.
