Leonard Augustus Hurgin, Jr., 61, of Fort Myers, FL, died May 26, 2016 at Hope Hospice of Lehigh. Cremation rites are to be accorded. Memorials: Hope Hospice or Bethel, CT Fire Department. Leonard was born August 19, 1954 in Bridgeport, CT, the son of Leonard Augustus Hurgin and Dorothy (Kelly) Hurgin, Sr. He was a 1976 graduate of Mt. St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, MD. He married Catherine McLachlan on March 21, 1992 in Newtown, CT. Leonard was an accountant for Eaton for many years. He previously served as an accountant for SOS Facility Services. He was a dedicated volunteer of the Bethel, CT Fire Department for 35 years. He displayed an ongoing commitment to EMS in his community. Leonard was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bethel, CT. During his spare time he enjoyed golfing, watching NASCAR and was an avid Red Sox fan and New York Yankee’s fan. Surviving are his wife, Catherine; siblings, Kevin Hurgin and his spouse Davi of San Diego, CA, Elizabeth Winslow and her husband Ed of South Georgia, Jeanne Hurgin of Danbury, CT; nieces and nephews, Wesley and Jenna Hurgin and Nicholas Winslow.
