Lillian Faye Mohr's Obituary
Lillian Faye (Halcomb) Mohr, 84, of Fort Myers, Florida, left this earth and went straight into Jesus arms on August 17, 2022, at Hospice House surrounded by family, after battling several health issues that began in May. Faye was born a coal miner’s daughter on June 20, 1938, to Lena Cook Halcomb Cloud and James Halcomb in Whitesburg, KY. She was the baby of six children and is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Ollie Craft, Emaline Isom, Lenville (Pete) Halcomb, James (Jay) Halcomb and Norma Jean Cornett. Faye was very loved, and she leaves behind numerous wonderful nieces and nephews whom she absolutely adored.
Faye attended a girl’s finishing school, Midway, in Kentucky prior to her family moving to Tiffin, Ohio where she was a graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School. It was in Tiffin while working at Jolly’s A&W Root Beer stand as a car hop that she met the love of her life, Norman Lee Mohr, of Republic, Ohio. They married on October 12, 1957, and lived the Navy life for a few years during Norm’s military service. Faye worked at GE in Tiffin as Norm earned his teaching degree at Bowling Green State University. Norm would go on to teach and coach in several little towns in Ohio, and the whole crew spent many weekends camping in Ohio and Indiana with great friends, before moving to Fort Myers in 1971.
Faye leaves behind four daughters; Elaine (Chuck) Hambling of Cape Coral, Leigh (Paul) Byer of Ft. Myers, Tracy (John) Rummans of North Ft. Myers, and Vickie (Julio) DeArmond of Ft. Myers. Faye and Norm delighted in the arrival of each of their grandchildren: Chaz, Ryan, Shea, Lindsay, Brittany, (Carlie-deceased), Kenny, Jonathan, Ben, and Brandon; and their 21 great-grandchildren! Faye worked during the day at the Lee County School Board, Southwest Regional Hospital and Hope Hospice and evenings at their business, Master-Kleen of Lee County which they owned together for 16 years.
Faye was involved with the Opti-Mrs. of Florida, and she was honored to be known as First Lady of South Florida Optimist Clubs when Norm became Governor. They spent many hours working for local communities in service of children and families. Over the course of her life, Faye attended church at Briarcliff Baptist and most recently at Fort Myers Community Church. Her daughters, grandchildren and greats were her greatest joy.
