Linda Joanne Hull's Obituary
Linda J. Leggett Metcalf Hull, 83, of Estero Florida, passed away May 25, 2021, surrounded by much love as she went to be with her Father in Heaven.
She was born Feb 10, 1938, in Horton, Michigan. The daughter of Wallace Hart & Juanita V. Leggett. Wallace died fighting for our freedoms in WWII on April 7, 1945. She was extremely proud of her father. Linda graduated from Jackson High School in 1956.
Linda moved to Bonita Springs, Florida in 1989. It was there that she met the love of her life, Charles R. Hull. They married and moved to their new home at The Villages of Country Creek in Estero, Florida in 1993. They truly lived “happily ever after” for the next 15 years. Together they enjoyed dancing, travel, adventures in Charlie’s airplane, their children, and grandchildren. But most of all they enjoyed each other’s company in sunny SW Florida. Linda was predeceased by her loving husband Charlie on June 3, 2008.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Lisa G. Rigelman and son, James D. Metcalf of Jackson, MI; brothers, Roger Leggett of Dinwiddie, VA and David (Sally) Leggett of Lake Alfred. FL; Sister Vicky Strobel, brothers, Danny (Kathy)Crance, and Marc Crance all of Jackson, MI; 3 grandsons, Joshua (Kyley) Rigelman, Jordan Rigelman, and Jonah Rigelman all from Jackson, MI. She is also survived by two stepsons, Dr. Jerry Lee (Cathy) Hull of Midlothian, TX and Michael R. (Rita) Hull of Tunnel Hill, IL. 4 step-grandchildren, David, Kevin, and Stacey Hull; Jennifer (David) Homan. Along with her kitty, Trixie who she rescued and now has a loving home with her brother and his wife, David & Sally.
Linda was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Janet Leggett; two beautiful babies, Julie Ann and Jennifer Lynn and her son-in-law Tony Rigelman. And, of course, her beautiful Cavalier Spaniels of 13 & 14 years, Rosie & Sophie, who she adored. I am sure they were waiting for her at Heaven’s gate tails a waggin’.
Linda was a phenomenal seamstress and found much joy in sewing and gifting to her loved ones. After retirement she became the community seamstress sewing everything from curtains to wedding dresses. She found her true passion in creating teddy bears that sported a snazzy hand sewn little vest and she would also make them out of a loved one’s special pieces of fabric. She loved her extensive collection of Beanie Babies and collectable dolls. Linda enjoyed playing Rummicube with anyone who would play and she would show no mercy. She liked to win! She loved Christmas and always hated to see the holiday end. She enjoyed a good Margarita, Ice Cream, Wendy’s Frosty and a good Dessert. Her favorite quote was “Life is full of uncertainty, so eat dessert first”, a rule she lived by and anytime you walked out the door she would always say “Watch out for the nuts”. Her family always knew she prayed for us daily, she was strong in her faith. She loved jewelry and had a thing for bling and would never be caught without her earrings or her lipstick. She loved to dance, her favorite being the Cha Cha. Linda was immensely proud of her family and leaves nothing behind but beautiful memories. One of her favorite stories to tell is about the time her grandsons took her out to dinner while visiting in January. A man approached her and asked how she got “The Chippendales” to escort her. Another one of her favorite chuckles was when another grandson was blessed with four little girls that were going to keep him on his toes. Linda loved living the last 30 plus years in SW Florida. During her last days Linda stated that she had lived a wonderful life and had no regrets. She was truly at peace about going Home and she was very excited to finally see her daddy who she had not seen since she was 7. She had missed him her entire life.
A few special mentions of beautiful friends that Linda loved dearly. Rita Craddock, her very dearest and bestest friend for the past 65 years. Sherri Martin who took amazing care of her. She brought joy, laughter and adventures to her every day. Heather Bury, who also not only cared for her but also added love, fun and amazing desserts. She had the best care assistants! Because of them she was able to continue living in her home. A very dear friend Mom adored, Andria Miano, who filled in as the Florida daughter. She gave the best spot-on description of Linda as being full of spicy and sweetness equally and that her shenanigans were an added bonus. And last, but not least, her two neighbors who she adored and always kept an eye on her. Wendy with little Lucy and Geno. Her family cannot thank them enough.
