Lloyd Dennis "Bud" Morrison's Obituary
Lloyd Dennis “Bud” Morrison, Jr., passed away on January 28, 2016 at the HealthPark Care Center after a 3-year illness, having suffered a crippling stroke in December 2012. He was born May 7, 1934 in Pulaski Township, PA, the 4th child of Lloyd Dennis Morrison, Sr. and Iva V. (Campbell) Morrison. Shortly afterwards, the family moved to Salem, Ohio, where Bud attended school and graduated from Salem High School in 1953. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1955 to 1958. In February 1958, he married Claire L. Richer in Marlborough, Mass., and would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on February 15 of this year. He is survived by his wife, Claire L. (Richer), son, Timothy (Mara) Morrison and daughter Gayle (Peter) Bruning and Justin Morrison, all of Massachusetts. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Christopher Bruning, Kathryn Bruning and Justin Morrison, all of Massachusetts. Also surviving are sisters, Laura Strub, Shelby Jean Rogenski, Priscilla Margamin, Linda Skidmore and one brother, Garry, all of Ohio, brothers-in-law, Robert (Barbara) Richer, John (Mary) Richer, two sisters-in-law, Anne Louise (Will) Kirkpatrick, LaRue Morrison, and one aunt, Margaret Schuler, as well as many nieces and nephews. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, as well as brothers, Herbert and Larry; sisters: Loretta Young and infant Evelyn. Following his discharge from the U.S. Army, Lloyd worked at Hy-Grade Foods in Southborough, Mass. for 11 years and Digital Equipment Corp. for 21 years in Marlborough, Mass., retiring in 1990. Following his retirement, Bud worked at several part-time jobs, including Parking Enforcement Officer for the City of Marlborough and for the Marlborough School Dept. as a Courier. In 2004, he and Claire moved to Bayside Estates in Fort Myers Beach, FL and summered in Sedgwick, Maine for many years. He was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church on Iona Road in Fort Myers. A funeral Mass in celebration of his life will be held at St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church, 12171 Iona Road, Fort Myers, FL 33908 on February 11 at 1:00 PM followed by a reception at the Bayside Estates Clubhouse, Stevens Blvd., Fort Myers Beach, FL. Arrangements are under the direction of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907, 239-936-0555.
