Loretta Kathryn Van Waus' Obituary
Loretta K. Van Waus, 88, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 in Cape Coral, Florida. She was born to August and Mildred Himschoot on March 23, 1933 in Brooklyn, Iowa. She was the mother of seven children. She retired with over forty years career experience as a legal secretary. She enjoyed reading and sewing. She had a beautiful voice and at the age of thirteen, she made a record singing opera. She also sang in the church choir at St. Francis Xavier for many years. She taught us that two wrongs don’t make a right and her signature line was, “I love you more!”
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Van Waus preceded in death, Keith Van Waus (Heidi), Vicky Van Waus Ward, Kathryn Sween (Al), John Van Waus (Jill) preceded in death, Jeanne Ellerd (Patrick), Stephen Van Waus (Jenn), twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, her sister, Dolores Molter, and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Loretta will be celebrated by Pastor Graham A. Stein at 11:00 AM on Sunday, August 22, 2021 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Guests will be received for Visitation for an hour preceding this ceremony beginning at 10:00 AM also inside the funeral home chapel. At the conclusion of these services, guests will recess to adjacent Memorial Gardens Cemetery where Loretta will be laid to rest inside the Garden of the Good Shepherd. Following her burial, all in attendance are welcome at a time of fellowship to celebrate Loretta's life with further details available at her memorial service.
