Cynthia Herndon
On this, the 9th anniversary of my Mom's passing, I reflect on how much life has changed since you departed this life. I remain forever in thought of you and Daddy daily. I seek out signs of your presence and often find myself talking to you and Daddy, saying I love and miss you so dearly. I see as I have aged, how much of you and Daddy are shown in ways of features, mannerisms, sayings and the simple comforts that you and Daddy enjoyed so much.
I have become ever more in love with music Mom, collecting a variety of genre's in the way of vintage vinyl. I think and remember how beautiful your voice was, when you would sing, I still have videos of us singing together to some of Elvis's songs and often will watch these videos to bring me closer to you. I have several albums now of our favorite,
Louis Armstrong and of course, I always check to make sure that
"What a wonderful world" is on each album.
I envision us sitting at the record player, you choosing an album, us sitting with a cup of coffee and just enjoying the love of our music.
I still watch some of your favorite Disney movies. We still go to Cracker Barrel with thoughts of you to have your favorite meatloaf and Coca Cola cake.
We live in South Carolina now, not quite four years since we moved from South Florida. We have a beautiful back screened porch, where we love to sit outside on cool evening, listening to the birds chirping, the frogs crooking, the wind rustling through the Georgia pine. The sunsets are spectacular here and the air is perfumed with the blossoms of Azaleas and Magnolias during this Spring season.
In Autumn, we are finally able to watch the leaves turn on hues of Fall, from oranges, magentas, yellows and reds. Our sense of smell during this time is greeted with the smell of bon fires and fire places burning, as the cool temps call for some warmth.
In Winter Momma, we are finally getting a few days here and there of snow, just enough to cover the ground and to make everything seem absolutely beautiful and glistening.
We have the newest editions to our "four paw" family. Our last of our babies that passed was Scarlett. She was the last dog we had in our little family that reminded me of how much you loved all of our babies. Sweetpea, your absolute favorite passed on soon after we moved here. I am sure that she has no doubt reunited with you Momma.
Julia and I started are own business and work from home. We are doing quite well for ourselves and love South Carolina, our home, our small little family and the screen porch. We always talk about wishing that you, Daddy and Julias parents were still here, as we know all of you would absolutely love it here. However, you all are no longer physically present in our lives but we pray that you are all with us always, spiritually.
Life has really gone on Mom, without the warmth and loving embrace of you and all. Yet, we seek solace in one another in shared memories, tears and laughter that will remain with us ALWAYS!
On this anniversary Mom, I love you beyond compare, I keep the memories of you, sing your favorite songs, eat your favorite foods and find entertainment in the simplicities of what you loved so much in your life. This brings me closer to you and will continue to, until we meet again.
Your loving and adoring Daughter, Cynthia Herndon.
