Lyle left a legacy of dedication to conservation of natural resources here in Southwest Florida. I have a fond memory of traveling with Lyle to Tallahassee to comment before the governor and cabinet on critical issues of the day. Lyle, and the late Roger Clark, joined me to bring the concept of a conservation land acquisition program in Lee County to the Board of County Commissioners in 1995. The concept, with the support of many Lee County residents, went on to become the Lee County Conservation 2020 program in 1996. More than 30,000 acres in Lee County are now part of the 2020 program.
