Lyle "Buzz" George LaPlante's Obituary
Lyle “Buzz” George LaPlante, 87, a resident of Saint James City, FL for the past 30 years, formerly of Green Bay, WI passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born January 17, 1936 in Green Bay, WI to the late Ira and Gladys (Malcore) LaPlante. On June 13, 1959 he married the love of his life Barbara J. Rocheleau.
Buzz was a proud United States Marine Corp and Air Force Veteran. In 1963, he started his own business K&L Office Equipment where he successfully grew the company to employ over 60 employees in 3 cities. The year 1990 at the age of 55, Lyle sold the business to enjoy his next journey in life, retirement. Buzz and Barb enjoyed many things together; traveling the world, flying his Cessna’s and Ultralight’s, boating, fishing, hunting, was an active member of church always giving of their time, growing vegetable and flower gardens, and the classic Buzzy rigging anything that needs to be fixed.
Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara J. LaPlante; two children, Julie LaPlante-Delsart (Gregg) of North Fort Myers, FL and Tom LaPlante (Sheila) of Suamico, WI; one sister, Rena Jauquet of Green Bay, WI; five grandchildren, Heather Jane Radtke (Matt), Dustin DeGrand (Nikki), Natalie Hermann (Stephen), Briana Peters (Jared) and Kayla Klein (Connor); 10 great grandchildren, Kaden, Ari, Payton, Klaityn, Kaycen, Kyler, Josie, Jade, Jackson and coming soon Stella; as well as one great great grandson, Jackson.
Lyle was proceeded in death by his Stepmother Helen Hansen, Brother-in-law Alvin (Al) Jauquet, Brother-in-law Gene Flaten, and Sister-in-law Peggy Flaten.
We would like to extend sincere gratitude to Wener with Comfort Keepers Home Care who had assisted the family in caring for Buzz.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 12175 Stringfellow Road, Bokeelia, FL 33922.
There will also be a Celebration of Life at Stadium View Sports Bar, 1963 Holmgren Way, Green Bay, WI 54304 on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 3 PM to 8 PM. All who knew Buzz or his family please come celebrate and reminisce with us.
In lieu of flowers please donate to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church or the Parkinson’s Association in loving memory of Lyle George LaPlante.
