Lynette Hitzing's Obituary
Lynette Hitzing, 74, a resident of Fort Myers, FL went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
She was born in Corry, Pennsylvania December 22, 1949 to the late John and Vera Smith ---weighing in at an amazing 2 pounds and 11 ounces. She was followed by three siblings: Jacquelyn, Clifford and Jilane. In 1960, the family moved to Fort Myers.
In her early years, Lynette took baton lessons and enjoyed roller skating. While in high school she was a cheerleader for Alva High, the Alva Ramblers and after moving cheered for North Fort Myers High School as a Red Knight graduating in 1967.
She met the love of her life Charles Hitzing, whom she was married to for 45+ years before he joined the Lord on July 6, 2013.
Lynette made many lifelong friends. She loved to stay busy holding a variety of jobs including selling Mary Kay, working for Tupperware, working at North Fort Myers High School and finally retiring from UPS.
Lynette was outgoing in personality and remained active in her high school alumni association. She loved to cook, experiment with different spices, enjoyed cooking shows, and her plants. Charles and Lynette had four children, Brian, Pamela, Dawn, and Aaron. She loved her children and her Schnauzers, Sam and Angel.
She was an amazing mother and sister, always the first to offer help to friends and family. She had a heart of gold, doting on her Grandkids, with whom she was so proud. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Alva.
Lynette is survived by her four loving children: Brian Hitzing (Amber) of Babcock Ranch, FL; Pamela Miller of Colorado; Dawn Hitzing of Fort Myers, FL; and Aaron Hitzing (Valeria) of Naples, FL; seven grandchildren, Tyler (Roddy), Haleigh (Matt), Cassidy (Chris), Christian, Cole, Braden and Brentley; as well as two great grandson’s, Jack and Luca; one brother, Clifford Smith (Sandy); two sisters, Jackie Tillman (Tim) and Jill Styles (Kenny); one brother-in-law: Wade Hitzing (Judy) and one sister-in-law: Cleo Hitzing as well as many extended familymembers and friends.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 14, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Alva, 2790 Joel Boulevard, Alva, FL 33920.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL.
