Mable Willis' Obituary
Mable Willis of Cape Coral, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2019 following some chronic health challenges over the past several years. She was 79 years old.Mable was born in Jamaica on Christmas Day in 1939, the beautiful daughter to Ellen (Rhone) and Levey Willis. She was a kind, gentle and good person who loved others thoughtfully and thoroughly. She was there to celebrate the triumphs of her friends and to support them through action and prayer when adversity and trouble struck. Mable had many friends over the years along with a number of family members living abroad. She loved and visited them all and led a fulfilling life. She traveled, knew how to carry a tune, how to laugh, dance and have fun. She was a free spirit, but was grounded in her faith with the Lord. She loved the Lord and followed him daily through her prayers. Mable was also a humanitarian, working at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City where she could usually be found volunteering at the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit and assisting with the feeding, holding and cuddling of the newborns that needed so much care. In 1997, after 30 years of service in healthcare, Mable retired and moved to Cape Coral, Florida in pursuit of beautiful sunshine and a nice relaxing lifestyle. As Mable’s diseases progressed and plagued her substantially later in life, she became friends to the people who helped her with the things she was unable to handle for herself, many of the things we take for granted. Her acts of kindness to the newborns so many years prior was repaid by the goodwill of the caregivers she had during her golden years. To them is due a great thank-you for the difference you make in people’s lives. Mable had a wonderful life and those who knew her will always remember the great times and feel fortunate for having known somebody with so many qualities.A Visitation for Mable will be held form 12:30 -2:30 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2019 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Immediately following the visitation, at 2:30 pm, a Funeral Service will be celebrated by Deacon Rich Spiro also inside the funeral home chapel.
