Mae Shull Rice's Obituary
Mae Shull Rice, age 81, a longtime rural Wingate resident, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021 in Select Specialty Hospital, Ft. Myers, FL. She was born in Crawfordsville September 3, 1939 daughter of the late Mina ‘Merle’ Shull. She was married to Lloyd Lee Rice April 26, 1974 in Crawfordsville and he preceded her in death February 3, 2017. She was formerly married to Richard Dulin who survives in Indianapolis.
Mae had attended Coal Creek schools and retired after 30 plus years with R. R. Donnelley & Sons. She also assisted Lee on the farm. Mae joined the Women of the Moose in 1975 and was a forty-six year, active member of the Crawfordsville Moose Lodge serving in all officer’s positions, rising to Senior Regent. She was very proud of her work with the Moose and sponsored 43 members into the Lodge. She was a lifetime member and chaired many events. She achieved; College 2008, Past Regent 2007, Senior Regent 2006, Academy Friends 2005. Mae moved from the farm near Wingate and moved to Florida in 2017 to be near her daughter.
Mae was proud of her children and encouraged them to work hard, be independent and stand on there own. She enjoyed bird watching, going out to eat and Bingo.
Surviving are: Marcus (Debra) Dulin of Poquoson, VA, Jeff (Ella) Dulin of Lafayette, IN, Cheryl (Mitch) McIntire of LaBelle, FL, Leanna (Bill) Tucker of Kingwood, TX, Julie (Frank) Pratt of Gordonville, TX, Mike (Leanna) Rice of Wingate, Linda (Bill) Jones of Valley View, TX. A sister: Barbara Austin of Crawfordsville, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two nephews; Eddie Lepper of Georgia, Gary Lepper of Crawfordsville and a niece Debra Keller of Crawfordsville. Mae was preceded in death by her mother, husband Lee and grandson Hyton Jones.
Visitation hours are 4:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate with funeral services 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 14th with Pastor Craig Carrell officiating at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill-Grant Street Cemetery, Crawfordsville. Memorial contributions to Crawfordsville Moose Lodge.
