Margaret Ann Jamison Dohan's Obituary
Margaret Ann Jamison Dohan passed away at age of 87 in Lee Memorial Hospital shortly after midnight Monday September 30, 2024, with her family near.
“Peggy” was born in Peekskill, New York - beloved daughter of Walter Whitman Jamison and Margaret Mary Wood Jamison. She was the first in her family to go to college and graduated from New Paltz Teachers College, She lovingly taught 1st grade for 3 years before leaving New York and teaching to move to Pennsylvania to marry William Ludlow Dohan on 11/18/1961 and to subsequently raise 2 daughters Susan and Karen. Peggy adored being a mom and she was truly the best -
She loved so many things : watching movies and learning about the old movie stars (especially Debbie Reynolds and Judy Garland) ,going to live Theatre; specifically musicals and she passed that love to her daughters! Peggy loved babies , chocolate, all sorts of animals especially favorite pets :dog Claudette and cat Kipling , she was an avid antique dolls collector (and had quite the collection at one point!) She loved going to the Jersey shore every summer. She adored the ocean and having a “water view” ,she loved to travel, with her family, and with her wonderful sorority sisters -both by land and on cruise ships which she got to do all over the world - Peggy loved her dear lifetime friends and family ,as well as new friends she met thru New Residence club, golfing, Book club ,Doll club , and her pool buddies . She read voraciously whenever she got a moment ,especially biographies. While she was still able -she loved going out for a walk every night and doing pool exercises every morning .She always enjoyed going out to dinner and having a Manhattan- straight up! ,a good steak and lobster tail or chicken Parmesan ! She loved salad-bar restaurants ; piling her plate high and DQ hot dogs, Buster bars and hot fudge sundaes with “Spanish” peanuts!
Peggy was a wonderful person - always smiling and laughing-She truly was a “light” that will never go out.
Peggy is predeceased by her parents and Brother Walter Jamison Jr and most recently by her husband of 62 years -Bill ; who passed away less than 10 months ago on 12/16/2023 .
She will be much missed by all who knew her but the loss will be most keenly felt by her beloved daughters Karen Lee Dohan and Susan Margaret Dohan (Chidester), son in law R. Bradley Chidester and Granddaughter Bella.
Peggy will be buried at the Fort Myers Memorial Garden with just family present. In lieu of flowers -donations can be made to the ASPCA.
