Margaret A. Gill's Obituary
Margaret Clemens Gill, 90, passed away Friday, November 7, 2014. Margaret was born July 24, 1924 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Catherine Clemens. She met her beloved husband, John (Jack) Gill while attending high school in Morgantown, W. Va.. Margaret was proud to be one of the “Girls of Atomic City” having worked on the Manhattan Project in Oakridge, Tennessee during World War II. Margaret and Jack moved to Fort Myers in 1959. Margaret retired from Sprint where she worked as a Directory Assistance Supervisor and later retired from the City of Sanibel (Finance Department). Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Jack. Margaret is survived by her son, Mike Gill (Pat) and daughter Patty Sushil (Jerry), her cherished grandsons, Zachary Gill (Molly), Patrick Gill, David Sushil (Kim), Alex Sushil, and great-grandson, Connor Gill. Margaret had a contagious enthusiasm for everything creative. She especially loved to paint, crochet and weave pine needle baskets. She will be remembered for her creative, energetic and loving spirit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arts at Bishop Verot High School. A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 13 at 4:00 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
