Maria Farrell's Obituary
Maria R. Farrell, 82, a resident of Alva, Florida since 2019, formerly of Broken Arrow, OK passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 2, 2023 under the care of Hope Hospice. She was born July 22, 1940 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to the late Ruben and Dominga (nee Vergara) Carrillo.
Maria was a parishioner of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Fort Myers, FL. Maria had extensive careers with both American Airlines and Smith Barney however, her calling was to be with her two boys. She left a thriving career as a Corporate Travel Manager where she oversaw a staff and large travel budget for the company’s senior executives. Her charisma and personality were infectious, folks throughout the organization revered her for it. After Smith Barney she helped her sons establish a brand and a business in New York City. Her passion and loyalty was to her family and pets, always giving and never quitting. Maria had a green thumb and absolutely loved to cook. Her hobbies included solving puzzles and gardening. She was preceded in death by her brother, Marcial Carrillo.
Maria is survived by her two loving children, Ed Semidey and his wife, Jackie of Fort Myers, FL and Tony Semidey and his wife Gina of Fort Myers, FL; as well as her adored sister and best friend, Margie Carrillo of Alva, FL.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 13031 Palm Beach Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33905. Entombment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Myers, FL.
