Maria Luis-Dorta's Obituary
Maria Luis-Dorta, de 58 años, residente de Florida desde 1997, falleció con su familia a su lado el sábado 17 de Octubre de 2020 en Fort Myers, FL, después de una breve enfermedad. Soraya era una viajera por el mundo y había vivido en Europa en tres ocasiones distintas. Visitó muchas de las maravillosas ciudades de Alemania, incluida Munich, durante el Oktoberfest de renombre mundial. También vivió en varias comunidades en los Estados Unidos como Hampton Roads, Virginia; Lincoln, Nebraska; y Fort Worth, Texas, además de visitar muchas grandes ciudades estadounidenses como Nueva York, Boston y Seattle.

Maria Luis-Dorta, 58, a Florida resident since 1997, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, October 17, 2020, in Fort Myers, FL, after a brief illness. She was born March 25, 1962, in Buenavista del Norte, Tenerife, Spain, and moved during her childhood to Schwetzingen, Germany.
Maria, who was known as Soraya by her family and close friends, was a loving and devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her role as mother and grandmother was the most important thing to her. It is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. Being with her family was what Soraya enjoyed the most.
Soraya was a world-traveler, having lived in Europe on three separate occasions. She visited many of the wonderful cities of Germany including Munich during the world-renowned Oktoberfest. She also lived in several communities in the U.S. such as Hampton Roads, Virginia; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Fort Worth, Texas – as well as visiting many great American cities such as New York, Boston, and Seattle.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jose Luis-Luis, and two brothers, Francis and Dario Luis-Dorta.
Soraya is survived by her two loving daughters, Melissa McDonald (Justin Yeomans) of Fort Myers, FL, and Jennifer McDonald (Daniel Zink) of Fort Myers, FL; her mother, Candelária Dorta-Abreu, of Tenerife, Spain; one sister, Marisa Luis-Dorta (Miguel Lorenzo-Pinelo) of Tenerife, Spain; her niece and nephew, Yamely and Javier Lorenzo-Luis, of Tenerife, Spain; two adored grandchildren, Kylie and Gavin Yeomans of Fort Myers, FL; her former husband and friend, Robert McDonald (Kim) of Alexandria, VA; as well as many extended family members and friends.
