Maria Morel's Obituary
Maria Morel was born Maria Francisca Reyes- Garcia on June 04, 1951 to parents Ana Rosa Garcia & Jose Antonio Reyes in Santo Domingo , Dominican Republic. The oldest of two, her younger brother being Octavio Rafael Reyes. Maria, better known as Mery to all her friends and family came to the United States and left her family at the age of 16. She learned many trades to support her family and create the American dream.
She built her foundation in NY, where she found her niche closest as possible to her roots. In the 1970's she met who was to be her lifetime partner Pascual known as Julio to all and together they created a family tree with their three children, Jacqueline, Julio and Giovanni. She accomplished her lifetime dream of becoming a cosmetologist and made sure that she was the best she could be by dedicating herself entirely to the industry. While this was a great fulfilling experience, she was always seeking additional opportunities to endeavor and so she decided her talents should be spread. Her love and vision for creativity led her to begin a career in baking. She created beautiful, lavish and elegant cakes for all occasions. Her effort and passion she put forth with each and every cake she created was such that the entire family was involved. From each one of her three children, to her grandchildren, Jamery, Ariel, Julian, Cassy and Lilly. Every single one touched a part of her most inquisitive sugar creation. She was happy! Mery loved and was dedicated to not only her husband, children and grandchildren but also to her extended family, her children's spouses, Irving, Cindy and April.
She had a heart of gold and a ear for music. She always carried her roots deep in heart and instilled her upbringing and traditions to her family and friends. Always seeking in her heart to being back home, she decided to uproot herself once again and bring her family to SW Florida in 1994. Cape Coral felt closer to home as she carried on her business endeavors and added a touch of her roots with growing everything from Guandules to Tamarindo! You name it, she grew it!
The most recent title she was so excited about was to become Great Grandma to Jameline. She lived a happy and fulfilling life and will leave her legacy with all she touched. She will forever live in our hearts, and we will always honor the woman she was.
