She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Bonnie Hillmyer Gnagey, son Barry Hillmyer (Colleen); two grandsons whom she loved dearly, Bryan Gnagey and Jason Gnagey (Jessica), three great grandchildren who brought her so much love and happiness, Tyler Gnagey, Zachary Gnagey and Alyssa Gnagey; along with nieces, and nephews, close friends Cheryl Stephenson and Cookie Swanson, Heritage Palms friends, North Carolina friends, Church of the Resurrection Bereavement Group, her Marine Corps Buddies, her wonderful caregivers and many others she met through her lifetime.Marie had been a Marine in World War II and so very proud to have been in the service. That is where she met the love of her life, Maurice “Monk” Hillmyer, her husband for 63 years before he passed away in 2008. They had a wonderful life together filled with lots of love, family, friends, golf and travel. After she lost Monk her life stayed full with family and friends. Her daughter, grandkids, and great grandchildren took her on many fun filled trips making lots of memories for all. The one thing she loved the most was being with family and friends.Marie was always quick with her wit and brought many laughs to all. She does not want anyone to be sad she is gone but to smile when thinking of her. She will be at peace now and so very happy to be rejoined with Monk and all the friends that passed away before her. We will miss her so much but she will always be in our hearts. We loved you so….A special thanks to Hope Hospice and a special caregiver, Maritza Hernandez. Funeral services will be private. Arrangements by Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
