Marilyn Jean Burpee-Vidussi, age 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in Fort Myers, Florida.
A vibrant and multifaceted woman, Marilyn lived a life full of passion, curiosity, and adventure. She was best known for her love of orchids, which blossomed into a lifelong pursuit. As the proud owner of Marilyn’s Exotic Orchids Nursery, she cultivated rare and beautiful blooms, earning the honor of having an orchid named after her—a tribute to her dedication and expertise in the field.
Marilyn’s interests extended far beyond horticulture. She had a need for speed and was once a spirited participant in the Powder Puff race car circuit, embracing the thrill of the track with grace and grit. She also enjoyed the serenity of the golf course and was a longtime member of the Cypress Lake Golf Club, where she found joy in both the game and the community.
Professionally, Marilyn served as a controller for Dean Steel Buildings, where her sharp mind and steady leadership left a lasting impression. Her career was marked by integrity, precision, and a deep commitment to excellence.
Marilyn’s legacy is one of beauty, boldness, and brilliance. She will be remembered for her green thumb, her adventurous spirit, and her unwavering strength.
Marilyn is survived by her stepchildren, Dana Vidussi (Denise) and Don Vidussi; sister, Elaine Wilcox (Pete); and grandchildren, Nicholas Vidussi (Kelsey), Brandon Vidussi (Nicole), Cody Vidussi, Ali Vest; and great-granddaughter, Bella Vest.
Marilyn will be joining her beloved husband Harvey to travel eternity's adventures together. She is deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
