Marilyn Carol Drexler's Obituary
Marilyn Carol Drexler beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed into eternal peace on July 8, 2016. She was born September 16, 1932 in Buffalo, New York the only child of Merle and Carol Pease. She graduated from Amherst High School and visited Florida with her parents while still a teenager beginning her love for Florida that lasted a lifetime. Marilyn married the love of her life, Wesley, in 1956 and soon after they moved to Florida to begin their lives together.Marilyn was a gifted artist winning many awards for her beautiful pastel and watercolor artwork. She worked various administrative jobs starting at Lehigh Corporation, a medical office and then retired from Riverdale High School, where she worked in the guidance office. Marilyn took great care of her family throughout the years including her beloved little dogs, Mitzie, Chan, Tootsie and Coco.Marilyn and Wesley enjoyed spending time with their many close friends, both here in Florida and those who visited from Buffalo over the years. Marilyn was an avid reader and loved getting lost in a good book. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She was especially fond of silly British comedies. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling. Marilyn and Wesley loved the beach and took the family on many wonderful beach vacations. They also enjoyed wonderful trips to Europe, around the US and several cruises.Marilyn enjoyed a strong and unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was an active member of her local churches over the years giving her time and talents as Sunday School teacher, alter guild member, committees and outreach. She was a caring and generous person who truly loved her neighbor as herself and was always there to lend an ear, offer a shoulder or give a hug.She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her husband of 59 years, Wesley, and her daughters Nancy Drexler-Hensley and Lauren Taylor (Bill) as well as her beloved grandchildren Carl, August, Olivia and Everett.Marilyn had a life well lived and will be greatly missed.We will celebrate Marilyn’s life with visitation at 5:00 pm and service at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Messiah Lutheran Church, 2691 NE Pine Island Road, Cape Coral, FL 33909.
