Mario Pica's Obituary
Mario Pica, a beloved resident of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years old.
Born in Marcianise, Italy, on January 21, 1940, Mario was the son of the late Michele and Pasqualina (Grimaldi) Pica. At the age of 14, he immigrated to America, where he lived the American Dream. Mario’s strong work ethic led him to immediately find employment, and he worked tirelessly to create a wonderful life for his family.
Mario was the proud owner of Mario’s Meat Market in Fort Myers, Florida. His dedication to his business was evident, as he affectionately referred to it as “That’s my Baby.” His commitment to providing quality products and exceptional service made Mario’s Meat Market a cherished part of the community.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mario was a devoted family man. He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of hard work, love, and resilience. His impact on the lives of those who knew him will be felt for generations to come. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Vincent Pica and his sister, Rosa Abbate.
Mario Pica is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Antonia Pica; three children, Michael Pica (Maria), Lena Pica and Mario V. Pica (Kristen); five siblings, Pasquale Pica, Bruno Pica, Maria Defalco, Ferdinando Pica and Sophia Pica; as well as four adored grandchildren, Francesca Barbera, Erica Pica, Carter Pica and Chayla Pica.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL and again on Monday, June 24, 2024 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord, 8121 Cypress Lake Dr., Fort Myers, FL. Entombment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in the Garden of Serenity Row.
