Mariruth “Kay” Carie, 67, of N. Fort Myers, died at2:25 PM Saturday October 18, 2014 at Gulfcoast Medical Center, Fort Myers. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials: Elks Veterans Committee Kay was born September 11, 1947 in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of Elmer and Ruth (Glover) Jewel. On August 17, 1977 she married Lawrence E. Carie. She worked as a Librarian for North Fort Myers Public Library retiring September of 2014. She previously was employed with General Motors for 20 years. She was a member of Downtown Fort Myers American Legion Post 38 Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E 2742. Kay leaves behind her husband Lawrence Carie; son, Scott Carie and his wife Michelle of Elsie, Michigan; son, Jeffrey Carie and his wife Crystal of Plainfield, IL; brother, Richard Johnson and his wife Betty of Troy, Michigan; five grandchildren and four grandchildren. The Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907, has been entrusted with the care of Kay. Condolences may be left to the family at www.fortmyersmemorial.com.
