Marjorie Ruth Schoening Bryan's Obituary
Marjorie Ruth Schoening Bryan, Age 88, of Pompano Beach, FL. Born September 25, 1924. She passed away January 26, 2013 of congestive heart failure. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Alvilda Schoening. Marjorie is survived by brothers, Herbert, Norman, Roger, 8 nieces and nephews and 12 grand and great grand nieces and nephews. Marge was born in Minneapolis and graduated from Washburn High School in 1941. She attended St. Olaf College for 2 years. During WWII, she worked in Washington, DC. She returned to Minneapolis, finished her degree and received a BA from the University of MN. She then went to Europe to work in USO’s. Marge moved to New York City in 1957 and received her Master of Library Science from the Pratt Institute in 1964. She spent most of her career working for the New York City Public Library on 42nd street in the picture collection. Upon her retirement, she moved to Ft Myers, FL where she volunteered for the literacy program in the Ft. Myers schools helping young children learn to read. She was an avid reader and writer, loved traveling, singing, painting and her cat Mandy. She moved to John Knox retirement community for her final years of her life.
