Martha Jacobs Pendleton's Obituary
Martha J. Pendleton, 98, died Monday. A lifetime resident of Fort Myers, she relished the rewards of hard work and aptitude, reflected in her early interest in journalism and the outdoors. A graduate of Fort Myers High School, she joined the journalism club, along with her future husband, Joe Lamar Pendleton, before attending Florida State College for Women. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in 1937.An accomplished administrator, she operated an accounting firm in Lee County with her husband for more than 30 years. She was active in the Girl Scouts and the downtown Fort Myers Rotary Anns.She is survived by two daughters, Josephine Buescher and Edith Pendleton, both of Fort Myers; two grandsons, Joel Graham and Drew Graham (Rebecca), and two grandchildren.
