Martin Paul Waite's Obituary
On Saturday, January 25, 2020, Martin Paul Waite entered eternal life at the age of 74, from his residence in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. He was surrounded by his loving partner, Claudia Wright at the time of his unexpected death.
Marty was born May 13, 1945 in Toledo, Ohio to Stanleyand Pearl Waite. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduating from St Francis DeSales High School. He enlisted with the United States Marines and served in Vietnam where he served as an infantry man, and later on as a helicopter gunner.
He was discharged from the Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal on October 1, 1966 and became a lineman for Ohio Bell, where he remained with his wife and children for many years. He progressed in his career and retired as an engineer. Marty moved to Florida with Claudia soon after the death of his parents. Marty loved coaching, helping with The Boy Scouts of America, and participating in the events at the Bay View Yacht Club. He loved his time at Put-in-Bay with his family, working on his boat, fishing, working on the golf course, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved partner of 31 years, Claudia Wright; his three children Tony Waite (Elizabeth), Trisha Kollarik (Mike), and Tom Waite (Keynia); and four grandchildren Hunter and Kaitlin Kollarik, and Brayden and Camden Waite. He was also survived by Claudia’s son Burt Wamsley, and his two sons Justin and Jonathan Wamsely. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Pearl.
Marty will be laid to rest with his parents at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Field of Honor with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Little Sisters of the Poor or St. Jude Hospital.
