Marvel ?áMarie Jones Myers, 92, of Ft. Myers died Sunday, December 18, 2011.?á Marvel Myers was born in 1919 in Taylor, Mississippi.?á She was the daughter of Norwood Bascom Jones and Corrie Mitchell Jones of Taylor, Mississippi and the wife of Daniel (DC) Myers, deceased. ?á Marvel is survived by her sons Jimmy Myers (Ann) of Ft. Myers and Dan Myers (Marie) of Darby, Montana.?á ?á Mrs. Myers received her BAE Degree at the University of Mississippi and taught business courses in Baldwyn, Mississippi and 8th grade English for two years.?á Mrs. Myers moved to Jackson, Mississippi working for the Superintendent of Higher Learning for the State Department of Education.?á Mrs. Myers also worked for the Dept. of Agriculture, Secretary to the Chief for the Southern Division.?á ?á While in Baldwyn, Mississippi she met Daniel (DC) Myers and in 1945 they married and moved to Tampa, Florida.?á While in Tampa she worked for the U.S. Maritime Commission.?á In 1950 they moved to Ft. Myers where DC Myers opened the U.S. Border Patrol Office.?á She began teaching school again in 1958 and taught 6th grade at J. Colin English for one year and 4th grade at Tice Elementary for a total of 25 years of teaching in Ft. Myers.?á Mrs. Myers also taught Sunday School for thirteen year old girls at Riverside Baptist Church, formerly in East Ft. Myers for 24 years.?á ?á Mrs. Myers was a lifetime member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a life member of the Lee County Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), member of the McGregor Baptist Church, Lee County Pioneer Club and Alumni Member ?áof the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss).?á ?á Mrs. Myers will be remembered as one of the most caring and giving individuals you would ever hope to meet.?á She loved history, traveled a lot before her health slowed her down, but most of all she loved her two boys. ?á Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at?á 3:00 PM?á at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home?á in Ft. Myers. ?áFriends will be received from 2:00 PM?á until the time of service.?á?á Burial will take place at Oxford Memorial Cemetery, Oxford, Mississippi.?á In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Salvation Army.?á ?á Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ft.
