Mary L Baker's Obituary
Mary L. Baker, 84, a resident of Fort Myers, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 11, 2022, while receiving care following some recent health challenges. Born June 8, 1938, in Villisca, Iowa, to the late Vincen and Louese Lowenberg, Mary has called Florida her home for the past 51 years.
Mary was an avid reader throughout her life and ran a bookstore for many years. She taught both of her children to read at an early age and instilled her love of reading and learning in them both. She also enjoyed traveling, sewing, auctions, crossword, and jigsaw puzzles.
Most of all, Mary was a loving and supportive mother who taught her children that you could learn and do anything you wanted to, and she was endlessly proud of our achievements. We will love you always and know that you will always love us more.
Mary is survived by her two children, Philip (Julie) Baker of Fort Myers, FL, and Jeanne (John) Schroeder of Studio City, CA; her two grandchildren Morgan Baker of Orlando, FL, and Lauren Baker of Fort Myers, FL; as well as siblings John Lowenberg, Glen (Sue) Lowenberg, Max (Pat) Lowenberg, and Dale (Sharman) Lowenberg; sister-in-law Bert Lowenberg; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 51 years, Wade H. Baker, and siblings Leo, Paul, Philip, Lois, Dean, Gene, Jim, and Joan.
A private Memorial Mass for Mary will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 13060 Palomino Lane, Fort Myers, Florida 33912.
A private interment will be held for the family at St. John XXIII on Wednesday, November 23, where Mary will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Wade.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate a book or funds to your local library in memory of Mary L. Baker. We would also appreciate having a Catholic Mass offered on her behalf if you are able.
