Mary Alice Holcomb's Obituary
Mary Alice Mitchell Holcomb of Macon, Georgia passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020. She was 92 years old.
A native of Caywood, KY, she was born to the late Stephen and Mintie Surgener Mitchell. Over the course of many years, Mrs. Holcomb worked as a hairdresser, a customer service agent at United Telephone Company, a bank teller, and a tax preparer for H & R Block where she worked until she was 80 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack John Holcomb.
Mrs. Holcomb is survived by three children: Judy Holcomb Short and her husband Mark, Elaine Holcomb Cooper and her husband Lawrence, and Jack John Holcomb, Jr. and his wife Sandi; two grandchildren: Daniel Gladman and his wife Gloria, and Victoria Bartman and her husband Jerry; four great-grandchildren: Cameron Robertson, Matthew Carroll, Dylan Carroll and Jack Gladman; six brothers and sisters: Lorene Whitman, Jack Mitchell and his wife Frances, William Mitchell, James Mitchell, Robert Mitchell and his wife Julia and Fern West; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Holcomb will be celebrated by Pastor Bob Lockwood at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2020 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Friends will be received for an hour preceding this ceremony beginning at 1:00 pm also inside the funeral home chapel. At the conclusion of these services, friends and family will recess to adjacent Memorial Gardens Cemetery where Mrs. Holcomb will be laid to rest inside the Mausoleum located adjacent to the Chapel of Light.
