Mary Jane "MJ" Hare's Obituary
Mary Jane Hare, or better known as “MJ” by her friends, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Health Park Medical Center in Fort Myers following some recent health challenges. She was 66 years old and lived in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.MJ was born in LaGrange, Indiana on January 14, 1952, the beautiful daughter to Effie (Brown) and Charles E. Johnson. She was the longtime owner and operator of MJ’s Sub and Pub of Fort Myers Beach until the time of her recent retirement. She was the loving mother to and leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Melissa Smith of Syracuse, Indiana and Samantha Van Hook of Wawaka, Indiana; grandchildren Tiffany Johnson, Austin Miotto, Daytona Willis and Jordan Smith; great grandchildren Jayden Miotto and Madisyn Jane Miotto and her brother Charles Johnson. She also leaves behind a number of extended family members and a multitude of friends she was proud to meet along life’s pathway. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.Immediate funeral services are private. Arrangements for MJ’s final care have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Cemetery and Crematory, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers Beach, Florida 33907. MJ’s family and friends in Florida will be hosting a Celebration of Life from 3:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 inside the Event Center at the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 964, Fort Myers Beach, Florida 33931, (239) 463-7733. MJ’s final requests will be honored at this celebration including music by her favorites Phil Oxford and Marty Keane.
