Matthew Steven Napier, 40, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, April 4, 2025, after a brief illness. Born on April 26, 1984, in Chicago, Matthew brought warmth, joy, and unwavering enthusiasm to everyone who knew him.
A die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and a devoted lover of all sports, Matthew's passion for the game was infectious. Whether cheering from the stands or engaging in lively discussions about plays, his sportsmanship and dedication were unparalleled. Music was another passion of Matthew’s from Metallica to Macklemore and everything in between. He also cherished playing games, particularly card games, creating countless cherished memories with his family around the dinner table during their nightly matches.
Matthew’s adventurous spirit led him to explore new places and connect with people from all walks of life. His boundless curiosity and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression everywhere he went. Known for meticulously caring for his cars, especially when he was younger and belonged to the Mazda Club his attention to detail was a testament to his pride and dedication.
Above all, Matthew was a beacon of happiness and unconditional love. His family was his world, and he treasured every moment spent with them. His infectious laughter and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Matthew is survived by his loving parents, Karen and Charles Utz Jr. of Fort Myers, FL; his Aunti Suzie Napier, Aunti Kimi Houston and her husband Uncle Ron ; his adored little cousin Danielle; as well as many extended family members and friends. Matthew is preceded in death by his Nana, Dorothy Lena Napier.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
