Matthew W. Wood's Obituary
Matthew W. Wood, 87, passed away on February 23rd, 2014 in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born December 23, 1926 in Bronx, New York, the first child of Sylvester and Margaret Wood. He served in the U.S. Army and after the war he graduated from St. Louis University with a degree in finance. He had a prestigious fifty year career in banking. Together Matthew and his wife Joyce had seven children who survive him: Kathleen Taylor, Matthew Wood Jr., Julie Richards, Christine Perry, Terri May, Timothy Wood and Marianne Carlson. He leaves eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. His sisters Peggy Doyle, Marie Burns and Catherine Paparella also survive him. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hope Hospice for their support in his final days. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to them at: Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, Fl. 33908. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church on Saturday, March 1st, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
