Maxine Elvira Eastman Wilkin's Obituary
Maxine Elvira Eastman Wilkin?á Maxine was called home to meet the Lord August 21, 2012. She was born on May 31st, 1926 in Nashanock, PA to Rose and Ernest Eastman. She lived most of her young life in New Castle, PA. During WWII she worked in a munitions factory as an executive secretary. In 1945 she married Warren J. Wilkin, Jr. After 62 years of marriage she was widowed in 2007. They had 4 children, Claudia Lee, Warren J. Wilkin, III, Candace Rose, and Jonathan Eastman. ?áMaxine was an avid reader and a lifelong learner.?áShe moved around the country with her husband who was a JCPenney executive. She was a supportive and active partner in his career. She was an amateur decorator and collector of antiques. She furnished many homes with beautiful antiques and her natural flair. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Paris, Switzerland, Morocco and India. She had the gift of faith and was always involved with her local church, women?ÇÖs and couple?ÇÖs Bible studies and the Christian Women?ÇÖs Club. She always wanted to be where God?ÇÖs word was being preached, and tried to live her life according to the scriptures. Her deep faith carried her through many sorrows and joys, including the death of her eldest child in 1987 followed by the joyous birth of her 5th grandchild the same year. Maxine loved life. She loved her family, the beach (especially Ocean City, NJ), her friends and tennis. She was generous and caring, wanting the best for everyone, and for everyone to see that they are part of God?ÇÖs plan. Maxine is survived by three of her children, ?Ç£Jay?Ç¥ of Bloomington, IN, Candace of Jekyll Island, GA, and Jonathan, of Atlanta, GA, six grandchildren, and two great-grands. Graveside services will be conducted at 9:00 AM Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery with burial to follow.
