Melva Delores Couchman's Obituary
Melva Delores Couchman, 88, of Cape Coral, FL passed away June 18, 2016 at her residence.Melva was born April 8, 1928 on Easter Sunday, in Yale, IA, to Ernest and Cecile (Jenness) Hanysh. She was a graduate of Yale High School and attended AIB College of Business in Des Moines, IA, where she met Delbert Couchman at a post-war dance. They married in 1948, raising their family in Iowa before making their home in Cape Coral in 1973. Melva began her real estate career with Couchman Realty and remained active until retirement. She loved her family and many friends, enjoyed ballroom dancing, and travelling.She is survived by her three children, Kristi Castro and her husband Victor of San Antonio, TX, Richard Couchman and his wife Gail of Orlando, FL, Karen Whitaker and her husband Scott of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren Jennifer, Laurie, Jacqui, Monica, Alex, Madison, Craig, Megan, Katie; and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, son David Couchman and sister Neva Gass.Funeral service will be at 11:00 Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907 with interment to follow at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home.Contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
