Melvin C. Bauman's Obituary
Melvin C. Bauman, loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and trusted friend died of natural causes on February 1, 2024, in Fort Myers, Florida where he was a resident of the Shell Point Community. He was 101 years old. Mel was born in Buffalo, NY on July 22, 1922. He graduated from Lancaster High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After being discharged, he began 42-year career at Mobil Oil Corporation in accounting, retiring in 1984 as the Accounting Center Manager, in Dallas Texas. In 1943, he married his high school sweetheart, Adeline Seeger. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in December 2011. Adeline passed away in January 2012. They were blessed with three sons, Andrew Bauman and his wife Julie of Ft. Myers, FL, Philip Bauman and his wife Beth of Medfield, MA, and Stephen Bauman and his wife Melissa of High Falls, NY. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Seth Bauman, Jillian (Bauman) Barrows, Michelle Bauman Fielstra, Rachael Bauman-Echlin, Luke Bauman, and Stephanie Bauman, their families including 12 great grandchildren. Mel was an active member of New Hope Presbyterian Church, and the Forest Country Club during his early retirement in Fort Myers. He volunteered at Lee Health for more than 10 years and was an avid sports fan of the Tampa Bay Rays as well as all Florida football teams. He loved traveling, socializing with friends, as well as playing bridge. A grave side service will be held for the immediate family in the near future.
