Merlin R Dewar's Obituary
Merlin R. "Doc" Dewar, 91, a beloved longtime resident of Fort Myers, FL, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Doc was born on March 28, 1934, in Rochester, Minnesota, to the late Revere and Frances (Howe) Dewar.
Doc was the proud owner and operator of Doc's Electric for 40 years, where his dedication and integrity led to countless professional relationships that stood the test of time. Known for his tireless work ethic and affable nature, he left an indelible mark on his industry and community.
In 1989, Doc and his cherished wife, Marilyn, embraced the snowbird lifestyle, splitting their time between Minnesota and Florida. By 2015, the couple officially made Florida their permanent home, finding joy and warmth in the Sunshine State.
Doc's zest for life extended far beyond his work. An avid sportsman and craftsman, he had a deep passion for fishing, golfing, softball, bowling, and woodworking. Remarkably, he continued to play golf five times a week well into his 90th year, a testament to his vitality and love for the game.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marilyn; two sons, Michael Dewar and Mitchell Dewar and his wife, Maureen all of Northfield, MN; one grandson, Zach Huot; as well as several extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be celebrated 11:30 AM, Saturday, April 26th 2025 at St. Peter's Luthernan Church, 418 Sumner St., East Northfield, MN 55057.
Doc's legacy is one of kindness, hard work, and a life well-lived. He will be profoundly missed by those who knew and loved him.
