Michael Philip Dinschel's Obituary
Mike Dinschel of Fort Myers, FL, passed away peacefully at Hope Hospice Cape Coral, on June 5, 2023, after a strong-willed battle against cancer.
Mike was born in Chicago, IL, and is the oldest of six children. He is predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Herbert Dinschel, his brother, Jim Dinschel, and Jim’s wife, Sue.
He is survived by his brothers, Peter, Jon (Kathy), and Bill (Hank); his sister Cathy (Jeff); numerous nieces and a nephew, along with his two loving daughters, Joanne Dinschel of Fort Myers, FL, and Janis Dinschel-Romeo (Timothy), of Charlotte, NC. We will all miss him very much.
Mike attended Wheaton North High School. He was extremely intelligent and mathematically gifted. After serving over 45 years with the United States Postal Service in various positions, Mike retired. He was a hard worker and always willing to lend a hand to those in need.
Mike’s love of his family and nature was handed down to his girls. Many family vacations and weekends were spent enjoying the great outdoors while camping or golfing. He was also an avid admirer of trains and enjoyed traveling the southeast to find his favorite model train collectibles.
Mike was a sports enthusiast, which included being a diehard Chicago Cub’s fan. He was thrilled to watch his team win the World Series in 2016. He also thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his friends playing pool, pinball games, and bowling.
