Michael "Tony" Kicklighter's Obituary
Tony Kicklighter, age 68, passed away August 12, 2024 at his residence in Fort Myers, FL. He was born Michael Anthony Kicklighter, SR on January 27, 1956 to parents Rosamond Dowling and Cyril Kicklighter in Savannah, GA.
Tony was raised in and graduated high school in Richmond Hill, GA.
He went on to work at Hobart, which lead him to becoming an industrial maintenance instructor at Augusta Technical College for several years. Later, he moved to South West Florida to work for Heinz. Life changed again and he made a transition, enrolling as a student at Florida Academy in Fort Myers pursuing what he felt was his calling with massage therapy. He built a career landing as an instructor, and CEU provider while guiding many students to their massage therapy careers.
He had an affinity for animals, particularly cats both large and small. From saving baby squirrels to adopting stray cats and dogs, his most heartfelt tendencies were most certainly towards animals. His friends and colleagues described him as having a compassionate and loving heart.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Cyril and Rosamond Kicklighter of Richmond Hill, GA and one sister, Caroline Long of Jacksonville, FL.
He is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Peggy Hillman of Ft. Myers, Florida. Survivors also include two sisters Kathy Brock of Tampa, Fl (husband Wayne) and Becky Fortner of Statesboro, GA (husband Billy); son, Michael Kicklighter, JR of Paducah, Kentucky (wife Teresa); daughter Ashley Bell of Richmond Hill, GA (husband Mike); four grandchildren Ethan and Lilly Kicklighter, and Caleb and Levi Bell; several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
