Michael Joseph Murphy's Obituary
Michael Joseph Murphy, 46, passed away on May 21, 2024. Michael was born July 30, 1977, to Joseph and Marjorie (Jacobson) Murphy in Janesville, Wisconsin. He graduated from Joseph A. Craig High School in 1995 and Mid-State Technical College in 2000 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Michael married Amanda Landers on October 8th, 2016 in Bowie, Maryland. He was employed as a Project Manager at Quality Enterprises in Naples, Florida.
Michael has called Florida his home since January of 2022 but has resided in Wisconsin, Illinois, Maryland, and Virginia. Michael was a devoted Wisconsin Badgers fan. He loved hunting, fishing, stock car racing, and gardening. He thought of himself as a lawn care specialist. Michael enjoyed exploring new places and had visited Mexico, Canada, Bahamas, Iceland, Ireland, England and Scotland. Michael loved labrador retrievers and rescued Daisy, Hodie and Coffee. He was a loving and caring stepfather to his son David. Michael was the favorite uncle, he treated his nieces and nephews like they were his own. He was a Godfather to James and Macy. Michael was forgiving to a fault, kind, generous, and had a great sense of humor. Michael is loved by all who knew him.
Michael is survived by his wife of 8 years, Amanda, son David Landers of Pennsylvania, parents Joseph and Marjorie Murphy, siblings Patrick (Kristi) Murphy, Betsy (Tom) Bechen, nieces and nephews James and Cassidy Murphy, Nolan Bechen, friends that were like brothers Andy, Paul and Dr. Blystone and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Joseph and Elizabeth (Haines) Murphy; maternal grandparents William and Joan Jacobson, his beloved labrador retrievers Daisy, Hodie and Coffee.
Mike lived by the quote "Loyalty Above Else, Except Honor".
There will be a service in Wisconsin and celebration of life in Florida scheduled at a later date.
Michael's family has entrusted Fort Myers Memorial Gardens with the tender care of his final arrangements.
