Michael Anthony Santora's Obituary
Michael Anthony Santora of Lehigh Acres, Florida and formerly of Worcester and Shrewsbury, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 following some recent health challenges. He was 85 years old.He was born in Worcester, MA, son of Michael and Catherine (Bosca) Santora, and was pre-deceased by his beloved partner of 44 years, Alan J. Loso who died in 2014 and his dear friend Howard Towns, formerly of Worcester. He also leaves his devoted nieces Susan Caramiello and Marilyn Crowley of Shrewsbury, MA and Linda Ruda of Dudley, MA as well as several other loving nieces and nephews and his loyal friend and caretaker, Matthew Hicks of Fort Myers, FL.Michael was a graduate of North High School and Boston University. He earned his graduate degree from NYU. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Michael enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an administrator with the Social Security Administration in New York City and later in Miami, FL for many years before retiring in 1995. Michael had a passion for theater which he expressed by acting in local and regional stage companies and by being an avid theater-goer throughout his lifetime right up until recently when health issues prevented him from doing so. His other passion was operating SANLO with his partner Alan, built around breeding and showing purebred Lhasa Apso dogs and together they had many prize-winning show-dogs to their credit.A Memorial Service for Michael will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Monday, June 20, 2016 inside the chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Friends will be received for Visitation for two hours prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM.
