Michael R. Scarry's Obituary
When talking about the legacy of Michael Roscoe Scarry, many who knew him point to the impact of his steadiness, his kindness, and his loyalty. For those of us lucky enough to call Mike family, his consistency in showing up for each of us in our big life moments and in the details and days in between was no small thing. He loved us well.
Affectionately known as “Big Time” to his brothers, they remark that Mike lived such a complete life, and had a rare likeability. It was not uncommon for Mike to receive calls from neighbors and family members alike: certain that Mike could meet any moment with wisdom and with the solution you needed. He met those calls as he met the rest of life: with patience, with a dedication to doing the right thing, with a willingness to serve, and with humility and optimism. We who knew him are better for it.
Mike, a resident of Ft. Myers, Florida, died at 73 on Saturday, March 13, 2021. A complete life is exactly right: Mike was a Veteran of the US Army and was a long time employee of Pratt & Whitney in computer technology. Mike was also a multiple time Champion of the Scarry Open.
He is survived by his significant other Sharon May; by his siblings, brother Tom and wife Laurel; brother Jim and wife Ann; sisters in law Bobbie Scarry, and Jennifer Scarry; his nieces and nephews, Michael O and wife Shilah; Brian and wife Sarah; Bradley, K, and Kyle; and his great nieces and nephews, Ireland, Thomas and Ellie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mo and Libby, and his siblings, Sally Beth, Trish, Magaroo, John, and Dennis.
We will miss him. Best big brother ever.
