Mr. Michael A. Washington's Obituary
Brother Michael Anthony "Hollywood" Washington was born November 11, 1971 in Port Charlotte, FL to Elijah and Sister Melody Washington. He accepted the Lord and was baptized at an early age by his pastor, Reverend Carl F. Brooks, First Macedonia MB Church, Punta Gorda. Michael attended Sunday School, Bible Study and worship services faithfully. He was an active member of the Brotherhood Ministry and supporter of the various missions and programs of the church. He was known to be committed to the Lord, church and his family. Michael attended Charlotte High School and graduated in 1990. He then pursued higher education at Edison Community College later on.
Michael was the first African American Certified International Arborist in Charlotte County. He was the owner of Washington Tree Service and took pleasure in the professionalized care of trees and landscape. He was the 2014 Reader's Choice Award Best of Charlotte recipient. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; he lived for his family and the outdoors.
He married Sandra Plesa, which produced 1 step-daughter (Heather) and 3 biological daughters: Alicia, Kimberly and Amelia. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, a daughter (Alicia Washington), 2 aunts (Althea and Martha) and 1 cousin (Holly).
He leaves to cherish his legacy and memories, his current wife, Shara Labeth Washington, his devoted father, Elijah J. Washington, a loving mother, Melody D. Washington, brothers, Almar P. Washington and Ebraun J. Washington, beloved sisters, Sherri N. Collins (Alana), Leiya L. Freeman (adopted) and Ariele P. Vasquez (Chris) of Colorado, 7 grandchildren, 3 step-children, 5 aunts, 2 uncles and Tara Newberry, a high school classmate and close friend through the years and a host of friends and acquaintances.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 28 at First Macedonia MB Church, 411 East Charlotte Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
